FAQs

Frequently asked questions

  • How old must a child be to participate in a DNA test?

There is no minimum age for a child to be tested.

Pre-birth DNA Testing requires mothers to be a minimum of 7 weeks pregnant at the time of testing.

  • What is a “legal” or court admissible DNA test?

The results of a court admissible test include legal documents and therefore can be used in a court of law and for other legal reasons.  The results of over the counter “private” testing can only be used for personal knowledge and will not hold up in court.  We don’t recommend this option if the parties require documentation now or in the future.

  • Do I need a court order to have testing performed?

No. A court order is not required.  Anyone can schedule a court admissible DNA test.  Remember, the results of a DNA test never expire.  Although you may not need the results to be court admissible now, you may in the future.

  • Do I need to schedule an appointment?

Yes. You must contact us to schedule an appointment. Required paperwork and instructions will need to be discussed along with payment prior to appointment. Please contact the office to further assist with your scheduling needs.
